Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
This policy explains how MasterPrep AI collects, uses, stores, shares and protects personal information. It covers our website at masterprep.ai, our practice interview product, and our interview platform used by employers.
We are an Australian company. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and we meet the obligations that apply to us under other data protection laws, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Contact: legal@masterprep.ai
How we handle your information depends on how you use MasterPrep AI. Please read Section 3, 4 or 5 depending on which describes you. Sections 6 onwards apply to everyone.
| If you are… | Read | Who decides how your data is used |
|---|---|---|
| A candidate practising interviews directly with us | Section 3 | We do |
| A candidate interviewed by an employer using our platform | Section 4 | The employer does |
| A customer, or a visitor to our website | Section 5 | We do |
You come to us directly, create an account, and practise interviews. We decide how your information is used, and this policy governs it.
We do not use your practice interviews to train AI models. See Section 7.
| Data | Retained for |
|---|---|
| Video and audio recordings | 30 days in our storage, then automatically deleted |
| Transcripts, feedback and scores | While your account is active, and deleted on request |
| Account and payment records | As long as your account is open, plus any period required by tax and accounting law |
You can ask us to delete your data sooner at any time — see Section 10.
An employer invites you to an interview conducted on our platform. In this situation the employer decides why your information is collected and how it is used. We process it on their behalf and under their instructions.
This means the employer's privacy policy governs your information, not ours. For questions about why you were asked to interview, how your assessment was used, or to access or delete your information, contact the employer directly. If you contact us, we will refer you to them and assist them in responding.
Video and audio recordings of your interview, transcripts of your responses, AI-generated feedback, scores and assessments, integrity signals, and the contact details the employer provides to invite you.
Our AI produces feedback, scores and integrity signals about your interview and provides them to the employer. These are decision-support outputs. They can be incomplete or inaccurate, and integrity signals are probabilistic indicators rather than proof of anything.
Our platform is not designed or intended to be the sole or determinative basis for any hiring decision. The employer makes the hiring decision, is responsible for applying human review to our outputs, and is responsible for complying with employment, anti-discrimination and privacy law.
To respond to your enquiry, provide and administer the Services, process payments, communicate with you about your account, and meet our legal obligations.
Demo and enquiry data: for as long as needed for our business relationship with you, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. Customer account records: for the term of your agreement plus any period required by law.
We share personal information with service providers who help us deliver the Services. Each processes it only as needed to provide their part of the service.
Our current sub-processors, what each one receives, where it is processed, and how long it is retained, are published at masterprep.ai/subprocessors.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own independent purposes or for advertising.
We may disclose personal information where required by law, court order, or a lawful request from a government or regulatory authority, and where necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
We are based in Australia, and personal information we handle is processed and stored overseas.
By using the Services you acknowledge and consent to these overseas disclosures. Overseas recipients may not be subject to obligations identical to Australian law, and you may not be able to seek redress under the Privacy Act in respect of them.
Our Services use AI to conduct interviews, transcribe responses, generate feedback and produce integrity signals.
We do not use your personal information — including recordings, transcripts, feedback or assessment outputs — to train, fine-tune or otherwise develop or improve any artificial intelligence or machine learning model, whether ours or a third party's. We configure the AI services we use so that data submitted through our Services is not used to train their models.
AI-generated outputs may be incomplete or inaccurate. Integrity signals are probabilistic indicators and are not proof that any person did or did not do anything.
We may use aggregated statistics that do not identify you to understand and improve how the Services perform.
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration and loss. These include encryption in transit, access controls, and hosting with reputable cloud providers.
No system is completely secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, and we will notify affected employers where the information was processed on their behalf.
We use cookies that are necessary for the Services to function — keeping you signed in and maintaining your session. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party analytics.
Some pages load fonts and software libraries from content delivery networks. These providers receive your IP address and browser type as a technical necessity of delivering those files, and receive no interview content or contact details.
You may ask us to:
To make a request, email legal@masterprep.ai. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.
Some information may be retained where law requires it, or where it is needed to establish or defend a legal claim. If we cannot action a request, we will explain why.
If an employer invited you to an interview, we hold your information on their behalf. Please direct your request to the employer. If you send it to us, we will pass it to them and help them respond.
If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, contact us first at legal@masterprep.ai. We will investigate and respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response:
If you use our Services from the EEA or UK, we handle your information as described in this policy. In addition to the rights in Section 10, you may ask us to provide a copy of the information you have given us in a commonly used format, and to object to or restrict how we handle it.
Where we handle your information as a controller, we rely on: performance of a contract with you (delivering the Services you have requested), our legitimate interests (securing the Services, preventing misuse), your consent (where we ask for it), and compliance with legal obligations.
Your information will be processed outside the EEA and UK as described in Section 6.1.
Our Services are intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has provided us with personal information, contact legal@masterprep.ai and we will delete it.
We may update this policy. We will post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we handle your personal information, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
